Milledgeville
8th August 1821.
Sir,
As you will no doubt cause a Book to be prepared for the use of the Executive Office, similar to that which has been arranged and digested by Edward Cary Esquire; permit me to solicit your Excellency to confer that Job on my Son Benjamin H. Sturges when the proper period arrives for its performance. Having suffered considerably in the service of the publick [public] whilst engaged in laying out the districts in the County of Early, particularly as respects his detention at Fort Gains, in waiting for an Indian Guard which was [added text: at ] that time deemed indispensible [indispensable] ; you may think his claim to Executive favor is better founded than most of those who will tender their services. Should your Excellency be so friendly as to reciprocate my wishes on this score, I will pledge myself that the work shall be performed in that systematic style which generally characterizes my own Official transactions.

I am Your Excellency Most Obedt. [Obedient] Servant
[Signed] Daniel Sturges
