The Sheriff of our County has sent me word that he has in his possession Ten Indian Horses taken [deleted text: [illegible text] ] [added text: by virtue ] of your Excellency's orders and requests to know what is to be done with them. . Four of these Horses are of the first depredation committed by the whites on Indian George & Six are of the last lately taken from Indians by some of the same people on the fork of large Satilla River, Seized by a warrant from our Infr. I have this day written to the Treasurer of the State of Georgia & enclosed to him $25 being the Sum required by Law for an [unclear text: auctioner [auctioneer] ] for the Town of St Marys which appointment I have accepted from the Council of this place as I expect to have consignments that I should rather dispose of myself, & being in the mercantile Business here, I may be of use to me.
Your Excy [Excellency] will confer an obligation on me by [unclear text: permitting ] me the appointment of Vendue Master for the County of Camden in the recess of the Legislature or to have me appointed by them if they are at present sitting.. I have forwarded the Bond & Security with the Money aforementioned to the Treasurer of the State this day
