Sir
A letter having come to hand this day from Mr. Bowles in the Indian Nation directed to the Commissioners of the United States for settling the boundary line &c. &c. [et cetera et cetera] Being informed by the Indian who delivered it, that it was from Bowles, and judging a knowledge of the contents to be immediately necessary, I had the letter opened, and as its contents relate principally to your State, I therefore enclose you a copy of it as well as my report to the Secretary of the war departments on the Same subject
I have the honor to be with much esteem & respect
Sir
Your most obedient Servant
[Signed] Joseph Ellicott Governor Telfair
