I have Inclosed [enclosed] you a Coppy [copy] of a letter from Colo. [Colonel] Irwin in which you will See the Situation of our fronteers [frontiers], the [illegible text] of our Militia will be a means of the fronteers [frontiers] Braking [breaking] and Leaving thire [their] Stations with out [deleted text: [illegible text] ] Some Emidate [Immediate] assistance the fronteers [frontiers] of Burk are Broking [Breaking] very fast, and leaving thire [their] Plantations [unclear text: wast [waste] ], time will determine [unclear text: to ] whare [where] our fronteer [frontier] will be, I am afraid very little Short

There is a great number of Indians in amongst us at this time on Sunday Weak [week] Last the [they] Killed and Scaulped [Scalped] [illegible text] Hogans Near Capt. Kemps Fort on Friday Last they killed a Mr. Daniell and Scaulped [Scalped] him Also and on Tuesday they Killed Mr David Jackson Family Consisting his Brother his wife four Children and Two Negroes and Scaulped [Scalped] another Small Girl and on the same day Capt. Woods of the State Troops Capt. Kemp & four of Woods Men Rode out to Spy on [edge of page] River and Near the Long Bluff the [they] Came on Line of about Thirty or Thirty five Indians when they ware [were] a Making for Kemps [edge of page: fort ] Capt Wood also Turned for the fort and had Rode but a Small Distance before the Indians fired on them One of his Men killed on the Ground himself Supposed to be Dead I went to the place And Took his horses Track and followed About five Miles the Evening Came On which prevented me from following any farther his horse is found without
