Dear Sir,
I recd [received] your letter of the
20th Novr [November] [illegible text] which I am Much Obledged [Obliged] to you for & have nothing more to Aquent [Aquaint] you with pertiquler [particular] But the inclosed Letter of Colol. [Colonel] Heny [Henry] Care the frunters [frontiers] are Dayley [Daily] [unclear text: Amoving ] which & have thought if a Draft was to take place to hold men in Rediness [Readiness] when there was a call to [added text: thire [their] assistance ] that it mit [might] provent [prevent] numbers from moving from thire [their] homes

the fronteers [frontiers] of your County [illegible text], are in great Confusion by the Repeted [Repeated] alarms from the Indians, the 15th Inst [Instant], there was 3 Indians discoverd [discovered] [unclear text: near ] [unclear text: Cribbses mill ] by [unclear text: Mr Saml [Samuel] Huff ] that night they stole 3 Horses -- the Night of 17th they stole 2 Horses from [unclear text: Carmikles ] & was Round [illegible text] fort Great part of the Night & [unclear text: Hollerd [Hollered] ] Several times to [illegible text] the night of the 19th Inst [Instant] a party of Indians Fired on Collo [Colonel] phillips with a Few men In Capt Whites plantation phillips & His party [deleted text: party ] Very briskly Returned they fire Which Causd [Caused] the Indians to retire [deleted text: Which ] & Emediately [Immediately] after the Indians Fell, In on the -- Neighbor Hood of Greensborough, & took several Horses off -- they Have Kild [Killed] some of our stock -- Latley [Lately] & are Daley [Daily] Ravaging Some part or -- or other of our fronteers [frontiers], In Consequence of which it is with much Deficulty [Difficulty] We can keep -- up the Fronteers [Frontiers] I have ordered a few Malitia [Militia] to the Difrent [Different] Stations [deleted text: below ] below greensborough -- & Greensborough [unclear text: Carmikles ] & the [illegible text] Sholes [Shoals] -- We Expect you will think Nesary [Necessary] to Station the State troops at your Compliance to give me Emediate [Immediate] assistance in all that Can Keep out a great part of the fronteers [frontiers] any Longer I beg your Emediate [Immediate] & perticular [particular] [unclear text: instructions ]
