Apr. 3, 1788 The Petition of Jno. [John] Cessna Sheriff of Greene County To his honour [honor] the Governor & Executive Councill [Council] Humbly Sheweth
That the perplexiteys [perplexities] that is In the County -- Afforesd [Aforesaid] Occationed [Occasioned] by the Indians Comming [Coming] on This Side the Occonee River Which frequently Happenns [Happens] & lately have fired on [unclear text: Cormichels ] fort & have Carried away anumber [a number] of Cattle & other Speices [Species] of Property Which So much Disturbes [Disturbs] The Citizens and [unclear text: Engages ] them from their Common Business & has Almost put Atotal [A total] Stop Their Pursuits Of Industry
Tharefore [Therefore] your [unclear text: petioner [petitioner] ] do not think it Practicable to Undertake the Collection of the tax for the Year
