- This document is a printed form, with some handwritten elements, presenting military orders to James Armstrong, by order of George Mathews, Governor of Georgia. Armstrong is appointed the Colonel for the first regiment of state troops formed for the defense of the state and the protection of its citizens. The appointment is to continue until a peace is signed between the state of Georgia and the Creek Nation of Indians.

[printed text: WE, reposing especial Trust and Confidence in your Patriotism, Valour [Valor], Conduct, and Fidelity, Do, by these Presents, constitute and appoint you to be ][written text: Colonel of the first Regiment of State Troops ] [printed text: formed for the Defence of this State, and for repelling every hostile Invasion thereof.
