To the Honble [Honorable] John Houston Esqr [Esquire] Governor of the State of Georgia &c [et cetera] and the Honbl [Honorable] Members of Council
The Petition of Daniel McMurphy Sheweth --
Whereas your Petitioner In the year
1782 Rented a Plantation of the Commissioners of forfeited Estates, and When the Rent Came Due Your Petitioner rendered a Audited Certificate to the attorney Genl. [General] for Said Rent Which he [unclear text: Refered ] Although it Was My Sallery [Salary] for being Superintendent of Indian affairs Since That I have been Sued for Said Rent Being thirty Pounds and an Execution obtained and Leavied [Levied] on My Property
Therefore your Petitioner Humbly Prey That you Will Take his case Into Consideration and Grant him Such Relief as You in your Wisdom Shall think It and your Petitioner Will Ever Pray
