Sir
I receivd. [received] your Order of the 5th Instant [unclear text: setting ] forth that you had receiv.d [received] information that some persons had mov.d [moved] from Pulaski County A Cross the Ocmulgee River & had settled on Indian lands with an intention of makeing [making] [unclear text: Across ] & Requiring me to take Charge of this Business & without delay to visit in person The individuals who may be thus offending & to warn them of [unclear text: there ] danger & Require them to move back instantly & on my return To Report to you my proceedings with the Names of the persons who are settled on Or [unclear text: occupying ] the Indian [unclear text: Land ] Adjasiant [Adjacent] to my County.
Sir I have Complied with The Above Cited order as fair as in my -- power, with some difficulty owing to the High waters, & on examination I find the following persons [unclear text: occupying ] the indian Lands, to wit, -- Benjamin Porcy & his Wife Polley, who has a house [unclear text: some ] land Cleared and under a fence with an intention To plant. Also keeps stock for John [unclear text: Lester ] -- Benjamin Brown, has Cow pens & keeps his Own stock, -- Nelley Lamb & her two daughters Polley & Nancy, has a House at brown

Cowpens [Cow pens] and A small piece of ground planted, Thomas [unclear text: Rogers ] & his Brother Has a Clearing Prohaps [Perhaps] at a [unclear text: giss ] from eight to ten [unclear text: acoss ] with An intention to plant, Living on this side The River -- I have seen all the aforesaid persons And have Required them to move back instantly And inform.d [informed] them of the Consequence should They Continue, there [their] answer to me was as it Was Contrary to Order that they would Amediately [Immediately] Move back or as quick as possible, & that they Would quit Clearing or planting [unclear text: any ] land On the Indian side of the River
I send you herewith a list of persons [unclear text: name ] Agruable [Arguable] to the information that I have -- Receiv.d [Received] that has turned [unclear text: stark ] over the river Benjamin Brown, John Lester, Wm. [William] Goodson Wm. [William] Johnson, Wm. [William] S. [unclear text: Lancaster ] [unclear text: Estate ] -- Thomas W.
