Your Excellency's communication with the legislative resolutions accompanying it relative to obtaining an appropriation and authority from the Government of the U States for holding a treaty with the Cherokee & Creek nations for a cession of their lands in the states of Georgia Tenessee & Alabama, have been received early in the present session of our Assembly and laid before that body with my own views of the importance of the subject.
Enclosed herewith I transmit your Excellency a copy of the resolutions of the Legislature of this State in relation to the same subject and growing out of

these documents.
Any aid which can be contributed toward the extinguishment of the Indian [added text: title to the ] country now intercepting the social & commercial intercourse between our States, will be very cordially yielded on the part of the government of this state.
It is proper that I should mention that the Agent of the Creek nation expressed to me an opinion a few days ago that, such cession would not probably be favored by that nation, the greater portion of which were dissatisfied with their late treaty.

Resolutions to request our Senators and Representatives in Congress to use their exertions, to procure an appropriation for treating with [unclear text: the ] Creek and other nations of Indians relative to the cession of certain parts of their Territory.
Whereas it has been represented to the General Assembly of this State, by certain resolutions passed by the Legislature of Georgia, that the Creek and Cherokee nations of Indians are desirous to make certain cessions of their territory by which the settlements of Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia would become connected, and thereby greatly facilitate the personal and commercial intercourse and traffic of the citizens of the said States; Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly convened, That our Senators in the Congress of the United [document torn: States ] be instructed, and our Representative requested, to use their best endeavours [endeavors] to have an appropriation made for holding a treaty or treaties with said nations of Indians.
And be it further resolved, That a copy of this preamble and Resolutions, be transmitted by His Excellency the Governor, to each of our Senators and Representatives. --
