Dear Sir
I have this moment Re.d [Received] an affidavit [deleted text: [illegible text] ] from Jones County which I enclose to your Excellency if this man has sworn to the truth which I hav [edge of document] but little doubt of the frontier will be in a dangerous situation in a short time the poeple [people] talk shortly of breaking from this frontier and I believe some has already gone. I am blamed for not doing something to satisfy the frontier poeple [people] -- your Excellency is blamed and Hawkins also it is well known that I have no power to act unless the Indians doe [do] some mischeif [mischief] . I hope you may have received something [illegible text] by this time that will anable [enable] you to judge from all the circumstances what is best to doe [do] . I would advise the poeple [people] to fort if I could be sure the Indians would among [deleted text: [illegible text] ] us in a very short time -- your Excellency will please to drop me a few lines by the bearer.
