Charleston
Decb: [December] 17 1837
Dear Major
McNeil called on me a few days after you left Charleston, and requested me to say to you, the Horse he promised you was so much galled, as to render him useless to you for some months to come, or he would have sent him to you, as he had promised to do.
The Horses mentioned in your letter of the 3rd ult: [ultimo] have not arrived or I presume I should have heard of them, should they be sent, I will with pleasure comply with your request.
We are anxiously waiting the result of the Cherokee mediation, the general opinion is that the War is about to be brought to a successful termination, in which I hope and trust we may not be disappointed.

Yours truly
[Signed] John [unclear text: Sengle ]
