- This document appears to be a letter to Return J. Meigs dated July 23, 1813 and composed by several Cherokee leaders at the request of Chief Pathkiller, informing Meigs of the growing Creek civil war. The authors say that the town of Tooquachee (also Tuckabatchee, Tuckabatchie, Tuckabatchi) in the Creek Nation has been taken from Creek chief Big Warrior and destroyed, and that the majority of the Creek Nation has gone against him to join the rebel party (often referred to as the Red Sticks). The Cherokees indicate that one of the prophets responsible for the uprising has escaped to the Choctaw Nation. Included is a statement from Big Warrior admonishing the Cherokees to arm themselves against the Creeks along their borders.

This is wrote from the request of Your Friend & Brother the PathKiller (our chief) to acquaint you [deleted text: of ] with the rebellion in the Creek Nation, the principal Town Tooquachee (or Toocabatchee) of the Creek Nation where four different tribes of Indians generally had their friendly conferences, is now destroyed & taken from the Big warrior, the principal chief thereof, by the rebellious & hostile party of that Nation. They [deleted text: have broke ] [added text: are endeavouring to brake [break] ] the chain of friendship between [deleted text: that & ] the U.S. & that Nation-The Big warrior together with all the friendly Indians have dispersed from Toocabatchee to the Coweta & Caseta Towns, & it is said that the greatest body of [added text: the ] Creek Nation have joined
