- This document is a land grant with map and survey report for a plot in Cherokee County, Georgia granted to Jacob Waldburg on December 27, 1838. The land was granted pursuant to an act of the Georgia assembly called, "An act to lay out the gold region in the lands at present in the occupancy of the Cherokee Indians, into small lots, and dispose of the same by separate lottery," passed December 24, 1831. Waldburg's plot was granted by authority of George R. Gilmer, Governor of Georgia (1829-1831, 1837-1839), though a note on the back casts doubt on the legitimacy of the grant.
