- This is a receipt, dated 1785, for services rendered by Lachlan McIntosh during a conference held in Savannah and a treaty at Galphinton between the Georgians and Creek Indians . McIntosh was one of five Georgia commissioners appointed to treat with the Creeks during negotiations at Galphinton. The Treaty of Galphinton was concluded between the Georgians and a sparse number of Creeks in November of 1785, and it was considered fraudulent by most of the Creek leadership because only two chiefs (representing a mere two Creek towns out of dozens) were present at the meeting -- Neha Micco (the Fat King of the Cussetas) and Hopoithle Micco (the Tallassee or Tame King).
