- This is a land grant, with a map and survey report, for a plot of land in Dooly County, Georgia. The plot was granted to Samuel B. McNeal of Jackson County, Georgia in November 1836. The land was obtained by the state of Georgia through unspecified treaties (ostensibly the Treaty of Indian Springs, January 8, 1821) with the Creek Indians which ceded lands forming Dooly, Houston, Monroe, Fayette, and Henry Counties, and it was distributed through an act of the Georgia Assembly passed on May 15, 1821. The land was granted under the authority of Governor William Schley (Governor of Georgia, 1835-1837), and this particular plot was surveyed on September 12, 1827.
