- This document is a land grant, including a map and survey report, for a plot in Baldwin County, Georgia granted to Brice Gaither on Oct. 9, 1805 by authority of John Milledge, Governor of Georgia (1802-1806). The land was obtained by the state of Georgia from the Creek Indians in the Treaty of Fort Wilkinson (on the Oconee River in Georgia), signed June 16, 1802. The land was surveyed on July 29, 1804.

KNOW YE, That in pursuance of the several acts passed by the General Assembly, to make distribution of the lands obtained from the Creek Nation of Indians by the United States Commissioners, in a treaty entered into at or near Fort Wilkinson, on the
sixteenth day of June, eighteen hundred and two ; and by virtue of the powers in me vested ; I have given and granted, and by these presents, in the name and behalf of the said state, DO give and grant unto [written text: Brice Gaither Esqr.
