Sir,
Savannah,
May 30th, 1796.
I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Excellency's favor of the 20th instant, and am happy to find that the plan and terms adopted in relation to the supplies for the intended Treaty at Colerain have your approbation.
When the Contractor was lately here, we made up a General Estimate of the cost of the whole supplies, rough houses for stores, transportation, &Ct. [et cetera], which amounts to something more than twenty nine thousand dollars. As the funds in hand only amounted to sixteen thousand dollars, I immediately wrote to the Secretary of the Treasury to request that he would have the deficiency remitted to me as soon as possible; but as my letter was dated so late as the 10th instant, a considerable time will necessarily elapse before the remittance can be forwarded. I have, therefore, to request, that if your Excellency can conveniently spare nine or ten thousand dollars, that you will accomodate [accommodate] [added text: me ] with that or a smaller sum on account of the proportion which the State of Georgia is to pay ultimately. As the Superintendant [Superintendent] has received assurance from the Creek nation of a general attendance, there can be no doubt but the business will go forward, and in fact all the supplies are on the ground, excepting a very trifling part, which is on

its way. To effect this fully, I have been obliged to request the indulgence of some of the Persons from whom supplies were obtained for thirty and forty days or until a remittance from Philadelphia should arrive.
Should your Excellency think proper to comply with my request, I shall be glad to receive the money as soon as may be convenient by a confidential Person; if otherwise, I [deleted text: shall ] must beg the favor of being so informed by the earliest conveyance.

I remain, with great respect
Your Excellency's
Most Obt. [Obedient] Servant
[Signed] John Habersham .
Agent of the U: States. --
PS. I inclose a Copy of the General Estimate of expences [expenses] .
His Excellency, Jared Irwin, Governor &C [et cetera]
