Augusta
April= the 11th= 1793
Sir.
I have along [a long] time endeavored to procure the honor to wait [added text: on ] you and expected to have had the satisfaction this time (in company with Col= Milton) [to go down to Savanah] But the conduct of the Indiens has made the [added text: [deleted text: [illegible text] ] ] commander in Chief to countermand his permision [permission] ;
I am now ordered to cause Blockhouses to be erected in the Middle Division agreeable to the spirit of a Conference with the honorable Major Genl= [General] Twiggs for that purpose; and on long Bluff will be one.
Col= Milton you know is my Freind [Friend] (and all are convinced that he is a good man) he will likely tell you what I wish you in every sense to know and perhaps shew you some Ideas commited [committed] to paper.

I have the honor to be with due observance your most Obdt. [Obedient]
[Signed] Augustus C. Geo Elholm
the honble= [honorable] Major Genl= [General] Jackson
