Wilkes

12th. March 1825
Dear Sir~
I recd. [received] yours of the 22nd Ulto. [Ultimo] so shortly previous to the session of our Supr. [Superior] Court, that I determined to decline an immediate answer, and avail myself of the occasion of the Court to obtain information concerning Willoughby Bankston and Lot 190 in the County of Crawford. Such person resided, until lately, in Fremans district -- He drew the Lot designated- He values it low, & is inclined to sell. This information was obtained from a relation of his. Bankston himself has removed to Oglethorpe. I have written to him, directing that he return an answer immediately. so soon as I shall hear from [added text: him ] you shall be informed of the result. The court in Oglethorpe is not far distant. If I obtain no earlier information, I will make access to him at that time & then write you again.
I had heard of the passage of the Agent and his aid to the City, and afterwards saw the fact most conspicuously announced in [unclear text: Cosams ] Vehicle. It is not a little provoking to witness the paroxism [paroxysm] and

writhings which the treaty has excited. I had hoped that upon this subject we were all Georgians, but it seems that a sort of semi savage sentiment, is not without its votaries. The Agent will exhibit handsomely as the bearer of the protest. I should regard such circumstances as the best security of ratification. As unkindly as it cuts him; he will have to endure it.

I am very respectfully yr. obt. sevt. [your obedient servant]
[Signed] Duncan G. Campbell
