Savannah
5th March 1782
Dear Sir
The Bearer William Hood is sent express by order of Lieutt. Govr. [Lieutenant Governor] Graham the Superintendant [Superintendent] who directs me to apply to you to him some horses for the use of his department to carry goods and Amunition [Ammunition] as far as the upper Creeks -- I am therefore to request the favour [favor] of you immediately on the receipt of this to hire as many as you possibly can not exseeding [exceding] sixty Head at the customary hire to come down with all possible expedition; As the path is not quite clear You'll be pleased to order the most trusty Packhorseman to come ahead how soon they start that he may return in time to meet them and give directions When they are to come to I beg leave to recommend the Utmost dispatch as the Chactaws whom I want to escort the packhorse up will become impatient -- If you should not get the whole Number I mention any part of them will be acceptable and of service -- I shall be obliged to you to forward the inclosed letter should an opportunity offer

I am with Esteem Dear Sir Yours Sincerely
[Signed] Farqr. Bethune
