- This document is a letter, dated January 25, 1826, from Chilly McIntosh, a Creek leader and son of the late Chief William McIntosh, to Thomas L. McKenney, Commissioner for Indian Affairs, informing him that since their signatures were not required on an unnamed treaty (ostensibly the Treaty of Washington, January 24, 1826), McIntosh and his party decline to affix their names to it.
