Mineral Springs
Decr. [December] 6th 1820.
Sir
I arrived here last evening & regret that I had not the pleasure of seeing you -- I have destroyed all [unclear text: improvements ] found in your [unclear text: nation ] from the shallow Ford to this place, and shall proceed down the Oakmulgee River as far as Hartford if I can learn there are any intruders in that quarter, from [unclear text: thence ] I shall proceed to Fort Scott [unclear text: the ] head quarters of my regiment
I hope the hint that we have now given the white people will prevent future intrusions on your lands, as the [unclear text: U States ] will not permit it.

Very Respectfully yr [your]
[Signed] [unclear text: Jno Nicks ]
Lt. Colo [Lieutenant Colonel] U.S Army
Genl. [General] McIntosh [unclear text: Chattahouche ]
