My dear Sir,
To complete certain memoranda regarding the Cherokee Treaty of
1835, I am in want of information upon the points which I embody in the annexed questions. Can you conveniently enable me to answer them?

was any seperate [separate] appropriation ever made to pay the reservations engaged [deleted text: for ] in Article 13 of the Treaty, to be paid for independently by the United States, because "only a just fulfilment [fulfillment] of former Treaty stipulations."?
To what extent have those reservations been paid for, and if not by an express and independent appropriation, out of what fund?
Was the $100,000 provided by 3d section of Act of
June 12th 1838 for blankets and clothing and for medicines and medical assistance, paid, -- and when and where? If not paid, or only partly paid, where is the whole, or the balance, now?
What payments were made for emigration, under the Treaty of
1835, before and after or simultaneously with, the arrangements with John Ross?
To whom were they made, and when? And what are their respective amounts?
What were the various payments made for subsistence,

from the commencement of such arrangements under the Treaty, up to the time when the persons thus subsisted reached their destination and by whom were such payments made?
What were the various sums paid to John Ross or his Agen [edge of document] under the contract for emigration, either by General Scott, or the Depar [edge of document: t ] ment, and when were these sums paid?
Are there claims yet outstanding for subsistence of the Cherokees under the Treaty, - either on the way, or after their arrival, either allowed, or disallowed? -- And if so, what are they and which have been allowed & which disallowed?
Are there claims yet outstanding for contracts either made or stated to have been made, for removing Cherokees under the Treaty, and if so, by whom preferred, and what is their amount? --
