- Myrtis Campbell, wife of office assistant and payroll superintendent Nat M. Campbell, christens the Felix Riesenberg in a ceremony held in the shipyard of the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Probably named for American naval historian Felix Riesenberg (1879-1939), the Felix Riesenberg was the seventy-second ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Its keel was laid November 16, 1944. The ship was launched December 14, 1944 and delivered December 26, 1944.
