- Aerial view of the construction of the hull of the F. Southall Farrar at the J.A. Jones Construction Company shipyard in Brunswick, Georgia. This shot allows a view straight through the ship's framework. Workers are visible on the inside of the ship, at the ship's stern, and on the dock below. The lower right corner of the photograph is cloudy. Named for Virginia 4-H organizer J. Southall Farrar (1871-1940), the F. Southall Farrar was the forty-sixth ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Its keel was laid May 22, 1944. The ship was launched July 4, 1944 and delivered July 20, 1944.
