- Aerial view of the construction of the W.P. Few at the J.A. Jones Construction Company shipyard in Brunswick, Georgia featuring the partially completed bow. Walkways, ladders and scaffolding have been built around the ship. Workers are visible on the top and along the sides of the ship, as well as on the docks below. Named for the first president of Duke University William Preston Few (1867-1940), the W.P. Few was the forty-fourth ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Its keel was laid May 1, 1944. The ship was launched June 22, 1944 and delivered July 3, 1944.
