- Aerial view of the construction of the Liberty ship Donald W. Bain at the J.A. Jones Construction Company shipyard in Brunswick, Georgia taken from near the stern. Scaffolding and elevated walkways have been laid alongside the top levels of the ship. Scaffolding is also visible on both sides next to the ship. Workers can be seen on the top of ship and along the walkways. The gun emplacements are prominently featured in the photograph. Named for former North Carolina treasurer Donald W. Bain (d. 1892), the ship was the forty-first constructed in Brunswick by the J.A. Jones Construction Company. Its keel was laid April 17, 1944. The ship was launched May 25, 1944 and delivered June 17, 1944.
