- Aerial view of the construction of the Samlorian at the J.A. Jones Construction Company shipyard in Brunswick, Georgia. Scaffolding and elevated walkways have been laid alongside the top levels of the ship. Workers can be seen along the top of ship. Much of the propulsion machinery had been installed. The shaft tunnel is visible. The bulkheads and decks are being added. One of the "SAM" ships lent to Great Britain under lend lease terms, the Samlorian was the thirty-ninth ship built by the J.A. Jones Construction Company in Brunswick, Georgia. Its keel was laid April 21, 1944. The ship was launched May 14, 1944 and delivered May 26, 1944.
