- View of the hull of the Liberty ship William B. Woods under construction at the J.A. Jones Construction Company shipyards in Brunswick, Georgia. Much of the hull and superstructure are complete. Scaffolding is visible on either side of the ship, and workers are visible on top of the ship and along elevated walkways on the right side of the ship. Named for former North Carolina treasurer Donald W. Bain (d. 1892), the ship was the second constructed in Brunswick by the J.A. Jones Construction Company. Its keel was laid July 21, 1942. The ship was launched April 7, 1943 and delivered May 31, 1943.
