- Dalton, 1930s. Thomas Calvin McBryde was born Nov. 2, 1843 in Atlanta. During the Civil War he served in Co. C, 44th Regiment Alabama Volunteer Infantry. During his later life, he lived in Dalton. He was a train watchman at the Selvidge Street crossing until he reached the age of 90.
