- Dalton, ca. 1915. William Clinton Martin was born in Murray County. He graduated from North George College in Dahlonega and started a law practice in Murray County in 1885. In 1888 he moved to Dalton. He was associated with the First National Bank for many years, becoming its president in 1926. He also served as president of the Bank of Dalton. He served as a senator in the Georgia General Assembly 1907-1908. The Dalton Regional Library occupies his home located on Selvidge Street.
