- Dalton, ca. 1918. James Archie McFarland poses for a photograph in his World War I uniform. He was born on Dec. 6, 1894 and died Nov. 25, 1936. He received his law degree from the University of Georgia and had a law practice in Dalton. He served as mayor of Dalton 1926-1929. He was elected Judge of the Cherokee Circuit but died before he could take office. He was active in many civic and church groups.
