- Description:
- Dalton, 1923. Hardy Springfield and his children pose for a photograph aboard a fire truck belonging to the Dalton Fire Department. This 1918 model American LaFrance engine pumper was said to be the first obtained by the fire department. Note the width of the hose and the fire extinguishers at the back of the truck. The photograph was taken on Pentz Street where the fire department was located. Mr. Springfield was later to become fire chief. His children left to right are Lucille, Bud, and Bill. Today the Dalton Creative Arts Guild occupies this site.
