- Dalton, Feb. 1972. Home of Gen. Duff Green located on Thornton Avenue. Green (1791-1875) came to Dalton from Washington, D.C. There he had been associated with several newspapers; was a promoter, politician, and diplomat. In 1849 he accepted a contract to come to Dalton in order to complete the East Tennessee & Georgia Railroad. His son, Benjamin E. Green, came with him.
