- Dalton, ca. 1905-1915. John J. Duane (1855-1924) was originally from Bondville, Vermont. He established the Duane Chair Company in Dalton. This nationwide business produced 1400 chairs per day and offered 160 varieties of chairs. The business was destroyed by fire in 1916 but was rebuilt. It is said that it was the second largest business in Dalton at the time.
