- Whitfield County, 1971-1972. Prater's Store located across the road from Prater's Mill. The gristmill, built in the later 1850s by Benjamin Franklin Prater, is located on Coahulla Creek along Ga. Highway 2 about 10 miles north of Dalton. The store was a gathering place for families who bought supplies and visited while waiting for their grain to be milled.
