- "Location of the portrait sitting unknown, a Georgia location is unlikely, ca. 1841-1842. Very early daguerreotype portrait of Burwell Hill (left) and Chandler Hill. Chandler Hill, born 1831, in Washington, Georgia later became a well respected physician practising in Albany, Georgia. Chan, as he was popularly called died at only 36 years old from malaria. This image is significant in that it may be the earliest known Georgia related photograph. The plate has only been fumed with iodine and has not been gilded as is typical of the earliest daguerreotypes."--from field notes
