- Tennille, ca. 1913. James D. Franklin sitting in front of one of the town's businesses. Mr. Franklin was born Feb. 17, 1840. During the Civil War he served in Co. B, 28th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry. He began as a sergeant and attained the rank of captain. He served as the first mayor of Tennille.
