- Washington County, ca. 1925. Part of the kaolin mining operation begun by Luther U. Campbell near Deepstep. He had begun prospecting for kaolin in the county in 1922. By 1929 he and two others founded the American Industrial Clays, Inc. to mine kaolin on a large scale.
