- Sandersville, Nov. 6, 1954. Interior of Magnolia Hall showing the entrance hallway. The home is located at 235 North Harris Street. It was built circa 1878 by Bryant Watkins and his son, William W. Watkins. It was built as a four-room cottage and was known as Cedar Hall. The Horace Adams and Virgil Joiner families rented it. In 1888 the Jefferson Alexander Irwin family rented it, and in 1897 purchased it. In 1898 Mr. Irwin remodeled the house. A second story was added as was a Victorian porch among other things. Mr. Irwin's daughter, Louise, was the next to own the house. Remodeling began late in 1954 and was completed in 1955. The home is now an example of the Georgian colonial style of architecture. Miss Irwin renamed the home Magnolia Hall. This view is prior to the remodeling.
