- "Cox's Prairie-border of Ware and Clinch Counties, 1824-1915. James Cox--b. 1824 on edge of swamp called Cox's Prairie. He and his brother Thomas were the forefathers of Okefenokee Cox's. Also, could have been first white men to enter the swamp in this area. Settled in Ruskin area for few years. Worked in turpentine and cross ties.See war002."--from field notes
