- Thomas County, ca. 1895. Entrance to Glen Arven Country Club located along Monticello Road. Originally the wooded tract was developed by J. Wyman Jones as a deer park. In 1895 when the Glen Arven Country Club was formed, the park was selected as its home. The club formally opened in 1896 and boasted one of the first golf courses in the South.
