- Griffin, ca. 1910. Dr. N. B. Drewry, a prominent member of the community. He was a physician and served in the Confederate Army as a surgeon in the Civil War. He operated a drugstore; was mayor 1905-1908; served as first President of the Griffin Board of Education, 1885-1913. He has been thought of by many to have been the father of the public school system in Griffin.
