- Description:
- Cuthbert, 1976. Structure with the house moving truck in front of it is the law office of Arthur Hood located at 109 Court Street. Hood came to Cuthbert in 1853. He was an attorney and later a judge. The office is an example of a Greek Revival temple-form structure which is characterized by the entrance being in a gable, rather than on a side of the structure. The building was later used as an insurance office and as an office for the Lovett Construction Company. The Lovett family gave the building to the Randolph County Historical Society. It was to be moved to Andrew College where it was to be restored for possible use as a chapel. However, during the move in June of 1976, the structure was accidentally damaged beyond repair. The building to the left of it is similar in design. At the time of this photograph it was occupied by the Proctor Insurance Agency, Incorporated. The structure had undergone renovation in 1974.
