- Cuthbert, 1920s. Group of students at Andrew College participating in a calisthenics class in front of the building known as Main. Note their clothing. Andrew College was founded in 1854 as Andrew Female College. Physical education was introduced into the curriculum at the college in 1867 by its president, Doctor A.L. Hamilton. He was among the first American educators to recognize the need for it.
