- Cuthbert, ca. 1920. Home of Doctor R.E. Toombs located on Lumpkin Street. It was built ca. 1858 and is said to be one of the first frame houses in Cuthbert. Henry Johnston Toombs (1896-1967) grew up here. Henry Johnston Toombs was an architect and sculptor. He is noted for designing residences for Franklin Delano Roosevelt at Hyde Park, New York and at Warm Springs, Georgia (Little White House). He also designed structures in Atlanta.
