- Description:
- Cuthbert, 1923. Andrew Jackson Moye Cotton Warehouse located at the corner of Depot and Orange Streets. This warehouse was built after the tornado of March 9, 1909 had destroyed much of Cuthbert, including several cotton warehouses. Lorraine Mickle Moye, Sr. managed the warehouse for his father. Bales of cotton were moved from the gin to the warehouse on mule-drawn drays like those seen in the photograph. The bales of cotton were weighed and then left in the yard for several days before being stored in the warehouse. The men wearing the long coats were cotton buyers.
