- Description:
- Springvale, Springvale Academy building. This school was organized by a Mr. Edgerly who came from New England in the fall of 1858 and offered to organize a school. The new school was opened in January 1859 in a vacant log house. The school closed temporarily during the Civil War and reopened following the war. In 1904, Springvale built their new school under Professor Pipkin's direction. After the Public School Act, the school began being used as a public school and after the consolidation of schools as a community school.
