- near Clayton, 1923. Paula Snelling who was a swimming instructor at Laurel Falls Camp. The camp was begun in 1920 by Rev. C. W. Smith. His daughter, Lillian Eugenia Smith (1897-1966), was director of the camp from ca. 1925 until 1949. Miss Smith was a noted author, and Miss Snelling, an author herself, was a close friend.
